Red headed flea beetle adults, Systena frontalis, were found in Edgecombe County at 526 GDD50. There are many products that will reduce adult populations. If you have not discovered adults in your area yet check the growing degree days at one of many sites like the ones listed below to track progress: Start January 1, use 50 degrees F, and calculate through current date/year.

If you suspect adult emergence in one to two weeks then foliar apply cyantraniliprole (Mainspring), thiamethoxam (Flagship), dinotefuran (Safari), or imidacloprid (Merit and other trade names). If adults have emerged many products are options for rotation including bifenthrin (Talstar), lamda-cyhalothrin (Scimitar),diazinon, chlorpyrifos (Dursban), acephate (Orthene), carbaryl (Sevin), spinosad (Conserve), spinetoram+sulfoxaflor (Xxpire), and tau-fluvalinate (Mavrik).
