Description: March 8-10, 2018 – North Carolina Aquaculture Development Conference

This conference is designed to bring together the general public, current and prospective fish farmers, scientists, and government personnel to learn about opportunities to develop and enhance freshwater and marine aquaculture in North Carolina. Attendees will be able to tour select freshwater farms on Thursday and hear the latest research based findings from recognized state and national experts during the Friday conference.  Our trade show will exhibit some of the latest aquaculture equipment and products and our famous "Cultured Seafoods Festival", the 'all you care to eat...' gathering on Friday night, will showcase all manner of NC aquacultured products.  This year we've added an oyster shucking demonstration and tasting of fresh NC raw-oysters.  Our shellfish workshops will wrap up the conference on Saturday morning.  This fun and unique meeting is only offered once each year, so be sure not to miss out!

Description: "NC Cooperative Extension has partnered with the farming community to provide Farmworker Safety Trainings.

Do you employ any native Spanish speaking farm labor (or know anyone that does) and need them to be trained on pesticide safety, heat stress safety, or green tobacco sickness? Well, NC Cooperative Extension will be providing FREE farmworker safety trainings on May 30th at the Wilson Agriculture Center.

This training is a state recognized and will assist in fulfilling some the requirements from Worker Protection Standards and Good Agricultural Practices certifications. The training consists of a 90 minute interactive session that will cover 3 topics neccesary for compliance, which are pesticide safety, heat stress safety and green tobacco sickness, all in Spanish. At the conclusion of the training, the business where the workers will be working will receive a certificate of completion and a list of workers trained for record keeping."
