Farmworker Health & Safety Education Program Update:

Well, we are right in the middle of the season, which means everyone is busy tending to their crops! But guess who else has been busy, Roberto Rosales, our Farmworker Health & Safety Educator for Wilson, Nash, and Edgecombe Counties. Roberto has trained over 1000 workers so far this season between the three counties! There's no farm too small or farm too big!

Roberto has conducted over 20 on-farm trainings and 6 extension center trainings to help assist in providing GAP and WPS worker training requirements to help growers and farm labor contractors be compliant with certifications and regulations.

Remember, it's a 90 minute session and it will cover the topics of Pesticide Safety, Heat Stress Safety, and Green Tobacco Safety. At the conclusion, you'll receive a copy of the training log of the workers present for your records and a certificate of completion to cover the farm.

If you would like to contact Roberto Rosales, you may do so at 252.883.5721 and email at rmrosale@ncsu.edu.

Important Dates to remember for upcoming Extension Center Farmworker Safety Trainings by county are:

Edgecombe: August 24, 2018 @ Livestock Arena: 1175 Kingsboro Rd, Rocky Mount, NC

Nash: August 31, 2018 @ Nash Ag Center: 1006 Eastern Ave, Nashville, NC

Wilson: September 6, 2018 @ Wilson Ag Center: 1806 S.W. Goldsboro St. Wilson, NC

All trainings will begin promptly at 9 a.m. at respective locations and dates! Be on the lookout for reminder emails in the days prior to each training event.

If you are unable to bring your workers to any of the events, then please call to schedule an on-farm training. This is about creating FLEXIBILITY and REDUCING interruption in your farming production time.

Thank you and look forward to working with you and your workers!
